Wilderness First Aid Badge at WILDE Adventure Summer Camp
Levels 1–3

Wilderness First Aid Badge at WILDE Adventure Summer Camp

Learn to stay calm, think clear, and help your crew when a trail day goes sideways.

The badge

Out in the woods, scrapes and stings happen — and a camper who knows what to do is a camper who stays calm. The Wilderness First Aid Badge teaches the real, age-appropriate basics: spotting a problem, responding the right way, and knowing how to get help. It's hands-on, it's earned, and it's woven straight into WILDE's strong safety culture.

What you’ll learn

Skills you’ll actually earn

  • Recognizing common outdoor injuries — scrapes, stings, blisters
  • Cleaning and covering a cut the right way
  • What to do for a bee sting or bug bite
  • Staying calm and checking on a friend
  • How and when to get an adult or instructor fast
  • Building real first-aid confidence, step by step
How you earn it

Put in the work

You earn this badge by learning the basics of wilderness first aid and showing your crew leader you can use them. Across the levels you'll practice spotting common outdoor scrapes, stings, and bumps, responding with simple, age-appropriate steps, and — most important — knowing exactly how to get help fast.

Every skill is taught and practiced with a trained instructor right beside you. As you level up, you take on a little more responsibility: from learning the steps, to walking through them on your own, to helping a younger camper stay calm. Master each rung and the Wilderness First Aid Badge is yours — earned, not given.

The ladder

Level up, one rung at a time

  1. 1Spot & Tell
  2. 2Steady Hands
  3. 3Calm in the Crew
Dear Adventurer

Knowing what to do when a friend gets hurt makes you the calm one in the crew — and that feels pretty wild.

See you on the trail,
The WILDE crew

For grown-ups

Safety, handled

  • All first-aid skills are taught and practiced under the supervision of trained instructors.
  • Content is basic and age-appropriate — campers learn to recognize, respond simply, and get help, not to handle serious medical situations on their own.
  • Campers practice in small, supervised groups, with an adult always close by.
  • The badge reinforces WILDE's core message: when something happens, find a trusted adult or instructor right away.
  • No real injuries are involved in practice — skills are learned through guided demonstrations and role-play.
